Practiced in the art of cooperation, thanks to nine months of training as "womb-mates", twin brothers Jack and Jeff Gernsheimer are well-suited to be your partner. They have formed an outstanding team, headed by partner Chris Werner. Founded in 1971, when a desktop was a desk top, and a hard drive was a trip from Juneau to Fairbanks, Partners Design (then known as Partners Graphics Design Studio) set up shop in an old house on a farm in eastern Pennsylvania. Unlike most design studios, which were located in big cities, their work often found its way into cargo holds and then into the waiting hands of the designated recipient. They've come a long way, and still enjoy collaborating, to create outstanding end-products such as websites, signage systems, or digital greeting cards.
JACK GERNSHEIMER received a BFA from Syracuse University in 1968, and began his design career at J. Walter Thompson in New York. He founded Partners Design with his twin brother Jeff in 1971, and in 1978, worked in Oslo with internationally acclaimed designer Bruno Oldani. Jack's work has appeared in Communication Arts, Graphis, Print, Novum (Munich) and other prestigious international publications. He has written about, lectured, and taught design at Pennsylvania School of Art and Design and Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Jack has completed a book on logo design for Allworth Press, called Designing Logos; The Process of Creating Symbols that Endure, which was released in October 2008. ORDER IT HERE.
JEFF GERNSHEIMER and his twin brother Jack founded Partners Design in 1971. Previously he was the Assistant Graphic Arts Manager at The Hershey Company, where his responsibilities included packaging design and quality assurance management, point-of-purchase and trade advertising, sales support literature and exhibit and presentation design. Jeff graduated from Moravian College in 1968 and worked at BMA Associates, a New York City design group. His work, along with that of the studio, has appeared in a number of reputable books and design magazines such as Communication Arts, Graphis, Print, and Novum. Jeff lectures and has taught college courses in packaging design, branding, corporate identity, and environmental graphics.
CHRIS WERNER studied graphic design at Penn State University and joined Partners Design in 1998. Prior to Partners, he worked for Dame Media creating strategic communication and graphic design programs. His work can be seen in Graphis, Print Magazine, and Novum — as well as other publications.
